Mechanicsville, Virginia Wedding Photographer | Rachel & Mitchell
I’m so excited to be sharing Rachel and Mitchell’s wedding with you today! These two are so special, and so was their gorgeous intimate wedding!
Rachel and Mitchell wanted to plan a fun and relaxed wedding, but something that was still elegant and romantic. They chose a simple outdoor ceremony at the Historic Polegreen Church, followed by a big dinner at the Roosevelt - a homey, country-chic restaurant with craft cocktails & delicious wines.
“Mitchell and I met through the Baptist Collegiate Ministries at William and Mary in 2009,” Rachel told me. “We also took a number of classes together throughout our undergrad time. Our official ‘first date’ is up for debate, since its been almost 8 years and we knew each other for over a year before starting to date. But we got Thai food and went to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts alone together, and that’s what we technically consider our first date! It obviously went well. :)
“When Mitchell knew he was going to propose, he asked my girlfriends to subtly find out what kind of rings I liked. They were no where close to subtle; so I knew it was coming, but the specific day/method was a surprise. The actual day he popped the question, we were at home in his apartment and it was very casual. I was wearing sweatpants and a giant cheeseburger tshirt haha! I made him get down on one knee and do it again ‘for real.’ Apparently he had been trying to propose in a more "special" or planned way all weekend and I kept ruining it.
“Mitchell and I are a very practical couple, and a lot of the relationship for us is about teamwork and compromise. We like to have fun together and be goofy and lighthearted, but we have also been through a lot of tough times and appreciate being able to be a supportive partner. Though we are very different on paper we have created a balance between our personalities and interests. We are best friends first as well as life partners!”
Rachel and Mitchell, I am so happy for the two of you! Thank you so for allowing me to be part of your wedding! :) I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from your beautiful day!
