A Virginia Beach Engagement Session | Blair & Zach
Blair & Zach’s Engagement Session at Virginia Beach
There are SO many cute things I could say about Zach and Blair, and their beautiful engagement session! The way he looks at her, the way she squeezed his hand, how he could make her laugh, but most of all the way their love just radiated for each other. I think one of the most special things about couples, is when you find that person who gives you all-the-butterflies, AND makes you feel completely comfortable in being yourself. THAT is just the sweetest, and that is what I loved seeing about Blair and Zach! :)
“When Zach and I met, we were working and opening the new TopGolf in Virginia Beach,” Blair told me. “Zach was hired a few weeks before I was, and when he saw me, while bartending behind main bar, he said to his colleagues, ‘Who is that?! I'm going to marry her.’ I made him wait [as many worthy women do ;)] and we developed a nice friendship and got to know each other through music recommendations, silly jokes, conversations at work, and gatherings with our coworkers.
“We are so thankful for this foundation of friendship as it allowed us to appreciate each other as individual people before partners. We got to know each other as friends until we couldn't resist anymore. Then in May of 2016, we finally hung out as more than friends and have been best friends in love ever since. :)”
I asked Blair how Zach proposed, and I absolutely love their story!
“Zach and I love to play games: board games, cards, sports, etc. and we love our families more than anything. Zach really wanted our families to be there when he proposed but he knew they'd have to be creative in getting together so that I didn't suspect anything-- I’m pretty intuitive and sometimes think a little hypothetically/too much. ;) He collaborated with the Owens and Sutter clans and the Owens' offered to throw a Superbowl party; they have many times in the past so I wouldn't think anything of it.
“Coincidentally, Zach's Eagles made it to the Superbowl!! This would throw me off even more because I thought everyone was there to support Zach and his beloved Eagles. Zach was so nervous throughout the whole day and I kept reassuring him that his defense will show up, Nick Foles will play well like he has been, and to just stay calm!! Haha Little did I know that he was nervous to ask me to spend the rest of our lives together. <3
“When we arrived at my parent's house, everyone started pouring in a couple hours before the Superbowl. My aunts, uncles, cousins, Zach and his parents, siblings, and some close friends were all there. Everyone knew but me. They didn't know how, but that's where the game, Guesstures, came into play. My Dad wanted to play a game before the big game and this was weird, because it was the Superbowl, but not weird because Mr. Owens has FOMO (fear of missing out) and he knew Zach and I played games the night prior with Zach's family so it was his turn to be included in the fun. Guesstures is basically timed charades with 4 cards, where your partner has to guess what the card is that you're acting out.
“Zach and I were on a team, so I was supposed to guess his cards. When Zach went to act out the fourth card, he got down on one knee and started acting out a proposal; I guessed "proposal? engaged?! taking a knee?," and Zach's mom passed him the ring box and he popped it open.
“WHAT?!?" I exclaimed, extremely giddy and confused. :) We were actually so excited and nervous that Zach forgot to actually ask and I skipped the "yes" and went straight to the "I do!" Haha. Needless to say, he completely surprised me, and it was the best day ever.” <3
Blair and Zach, it has been such a joy to get to know you! Your story is absolutely perfect! :) I can’t wait to celebrate your wedding this year, and watch you two add a new chapter together...the one where you start your life as husband and wife!
Enjoy a few of my favorites from your beautiful beach engagement session! :)
